Simple Ways Of Calculating Freight On Used Cars From Japan

How to calculate freight of used cars from Japan?

Calculating freight while importing any used vehicles, cars, SUV, MUV, van, wagon, truck, bus from Japan is important to get C&F cost.

Importers or individual buyers must know how to calculate freight charges while importing any used cars to their final delivery port. Many Japanese used car sites are already helping buyers by providing freight calculation system on their website. However still it requires some guidance like how this freight had been calculated.

To calculate exact freight for importing your used car you must know below things:

What is M3 size of your required vehicle?

Freight is calculated on the basis of size (M3) of the vehicle. M3 means cubic volume of your Vehicle.

It is calculated as:

M3 = Length x Width x Height

Most of websites already have fixed m3 size of each vehicle model to calculate estimate cost of Freight.

Like: Toyota Corolla (Sedan) M3 size is 9.5 m3

What is the nearest port of delivery in your country or outside your country?

You must need to know the nearest shipping port of your country or if your country does not have any port then check the port nearest to your country.

What is the rate of per M3 size to ship any vehicle to your required destination port?

Now you have to collect information that how much charges will shipping company or dealers will be charging against per M3 size for the vehicle you required in to your destination port and what is the shipping mode (RO-RO or Container).

What is RO-RO or Containers in shipping system?

RORO or ro-ro (Roll-on/roll-off) ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers or railroad cars that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels.

About container it is been used for anything to store, means you can not only store the wheeled items like, automobiles, trucks, bikes but can also store parts and other non wheeled items. A 20-foot ocean container is 20-foot long, 8-foot wide and 8-foot tall (capacity approximately 1200 cubic feet). A 40-foot container is 40-foot long, 8-foot wide and 8-foot tall (capacity approximately 2400 cubic feet)

By using above informations Freight was calculated as below:

M3 size of the vehicle x M3 Rate provided by the Shipping company or dealer = FREIGHT RESULT

For example, if you want to calculate FREIGHT for a sedan car to be shipped at Kenya’s - Mombassa Port then below is the calculation:

Size of Sedan Car = 09.5 M3

Freight Charges = US$ 90 Per M3

Calculation will be 09.5 x 90 = US$ 855

Freight Charges of Sedan for Mombassa Port will be US$ 855
