| Procedure of Import Cars to Trinidad & Tobago |
 Imported Cars must be right hand drive.- Imported Cars must not be fitted with a diesel engine.
- The Person whose name the vehicle is to be imported and registered, must first obtain an Import Licence from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Port of Spain, to facilitate importing the used vehicle of their choice.
- Cars/Vehicles must be less than 5 years old from the date of manufacture, upon arrival into Trinidad & Tobago.
- For vehicles destined to be used as taxis, these units must be less than 3 years from the date of manufacture.
- Importing a used Maxi Taxi, though allowed, must also be less than 5 years old from the date of manufacture, but requires a Special Approval from the Transport Commissioner.
- The applicant must advise the Ministry of Trade and Industry of their B.I.R. (Board of Inland Revenue) File number.

| NOTE : When import a truck into Trinidad & Tobago |
- originals and Copies of the Company’s BIR number as well as the Company’s registration certificate, must be submitted along with the import Licence application.
- A covering letter, introducing the company and the reasons for the need to import the required vehicle, must also be submitted.

| Required Documents to Import a Car/Vehicles into Trinidad and Tobago |
- Import License and proof of ownership required.
- Car/Vehicle can not sell or transfer within a period of 2 years after importation.
- Importer must have owned vehicle for a minimum of 6 months prior to return to Trinidad & Tobago.
- Importer must have resided abroad for a minimum of 5 years.
- Invoices (for proof of age)
- Subject to Duty, VAT and Tax.
